Organic Sprouted Brown Rice

Today is day 3 of our Organic Week feature recipes and today we are looking at Sunningdale Mills Organic Sprouted Brown Rice.

Adding Organic Sprouted Brown Rice into your diet is easier than it sounds and ours cooks in ½ of the time of regular brown rice! When you mix the Organic Sprouted Brown rice into a chicken or vegetable dish they are more filling and have increased the nutritional value.

Now the recipe! It was inspired by One Pot Mushroom Rice – Damn Delicious, and was prepared with Sunningdale Mills Organic Sprouted Brown Rice and all the ingredients are available from Remark Fresh Markets @ 1190 Oxford St W in Hyde Park!

Ingredients

Olive Oil

1 large Red Onion, diced

1 tsp. Minced garlic

½ pound White mushrooms, sliced

2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp. ground thyme

1 3/4 cups vegetable broth

Salt and pepper to tase

Directions

Cover the bottom of medium pot with the olive oil.

Add the onion and garlic and sauté for a few minutes.

Add the mushrooms, Worcestershire, salt, pepper and thyme, cooking and stirring occasionally until the mushrooms are tender, about 5-6 minutes

Add the Organic Sprouted Brown Rice, vegetable broth.

Bring everything to a boil, then cover, reduce heat to a simmer, cooking until the rice is tender, about 30 minutes.

Stir in butter until melted, then serve!
